The obtuse disappointment
at the sight of rare blood and
I’m reminded of the blossom
of your face withering
in my presence.
The open book that closes
specifically for me.

All the failed female things.

I slide down the J,
rest comfortably in its curve.
This is where I’ll meet
Jeanie and James
(St. James that is).

Superstitious, surreal hope
unrequited,
is its own kind of love.
