Venom From The Mouth Of An Angel-Faced Terror
I put rope in the hands of my friends, and tell them their charge: bind me to the mast so that I might soak up the heavenly notes of her poisoned song. And if I am to relapse on the high ofher kindness, cut just enough for me to hang by.
She’s the only thing in the sea that I fear. The droop-faced horrors that fester by the core and the behemoths that pray on mites could not tear me apart like she. For what destiny is more gruesome than that of a self-destroyer?
If given the chance I might split my skin and snap apart my ribs, just to deliver her my heart with red hot hands.
John Street III is an English Lit major at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, IL. He’s been writing since he was eleven, though he’s always been fond of storytelling, whether it be with lies, Lego, or raw imagination. As a self-described renaissance man, he’s sharpened his teeth putting words in every shape they agree with: short fiction, poetry, essays, articles, and stage plays, just to name a few. His next goal is to write a novel, both a pivotal goal and the ultimate object of procrastination.
Edward Michael Supranowicz is the grandson of Irish and Russian/Ukrainian immigrants. He grew up on a small farm in Appalachia. He has a grad background in painting and printmaking. Some of his artwork has recently or will soon appear in Fish Food, Streetlight, Another Chicago Magazine, The Door Is A Jar, The Phoenix, and The Harvard Advocate. Edward is also a published poet who has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize multiple times.
