My Zoo Visit
At the zoo,
I start with the main attractions –
the big cats, the rhinos,
the elephants and giraffes.
Then I spend some time
with the hoof stock –
antelopes, camels, llamas
and bison.
Following that,
it’s on to the smaller mammals –
otters, sloth, beavers,
ant-eaters and rodents of various sizes.
From there it’s to the aviaries –
from birds of prey to the tiniest songbirds.
Reptiles come next –
snakes of course,.
and lizards,
and especially the fearsome members
of the order Crocodilia.
Finally, .
I spend time with the insects –
crickets and spiders,
roaches and lastly ants.
There’s something appealing
about creatures I’ve stepped on.
