Shortly After Birth
The
fetus
in human
incubator
must be born alive
that life they call sacred
no prenatal assistance
no funding for the school lunches
destined gunned down in kindergarten
seems lives lose value shortly after birth
George Schaefer is a Philly born poet, philosopher and prankster. He started writing poetry as a teenager in an attempt to impress girls. It didn’t work which led to serious philosophical musings. Eventually he developed a sense of humor and learned to laugh about all of it. He does occasionally realize there are serious issues in the world and will often try to address the injustices of the world.
Lauren Shear is a museum professional, public historian, and lifelong resident of Massachusetts. She has been working with activist groups since college and has been seeking ways to support communities under attack ever since.
This expresses so much, so succinctly, and is spot on.
Thank you.
