A Sort of Eulogy for a New Year
As stars appear like herald
of the new Year,
day moves into night
the way a snake sheds its skin,
but that distant sky is a place
I know nothing about,
and like this New Year,
it fills me with doubt.
There’s an ache in my chest,
but I’ll fill up my cup.
Let the merriment begin.
We men will be fools,
as long as we drink,
we’ll still hope for the best.
George Freek: “Reading your guidelines, I’ll simply let my poetry speak for itself!”
