Sweating from
the sun
on my skin,
the layers
to protect me
from the cold.
Snow blower
idling, roads
slowly opening.
Dunkin’,
Honey Dew
both closed.
They say it’s
the worst snowstorm
on record.
32 inches
and change
where I am.
I have to say
it was quite
impressive.
The way
the snow
drifted down.
And it
kept coming
and coming.
Now everything’s
postponed
or closed.
The roads
are choppy,
some are passable.
I dug my car out.
My daughter had fun
climbing the mounds.
I sat down
when I
needed to
and enjoyed
the cold
icing my bones.
Not done yet.
Just have to
write this poem.
Then back to
this winter
rodeo.
