I sat by the window,
the scenery
passing.
I looked down at my book.
I was at the last page,
nowhere near my stop.
I looked at my watch.
It was dead. No idea
if I was late or not.
The memory of you
was running
through me,
your laughter
echoing in
my vacant heart.
I knew that if I
read the last page,
I’d have nothing left of you.
I closed the book,
stared at the blank screen
of my dead watch,
waiting
for the next
stop.
