A I Meets
Bob Kaufman

tonight Santa Claus
is safe in heaven
a jazz chic
flips her lid
god has demands
no one is listening
the pope masturbates
to the buddha
distorted trombones
leave my soul empty
while my heart
dances a cowboy ballet
an unpainted picture
is waiting
for a paintbrush
although
i’m standing at a
bustop
i’m
not
waiting
for a bus
i’m
waiting
for
the moon
to
rise
in
the
night sky
and take me
home

San Francisco drummer and poet Skooter Fein was fed chocolate chip cookies for breakfast by his mother – so drummer and poet kinda makes sense.

Edward S. Gault is a poet and fine arts photographer living in Brighton, Massachusetts. His work has appeared in Oddball Magazine, Spectrum, Wilderness House Literary Review, Interlude, Currents, and Encore.
