bubbling over
september 26, 2015

when the rhythmic rattling rouses me from my lackadaisic lounge
when the steam sprays sideways and the blue flame flickers
when my marinara makes a mess of the nearby whitish walls
i picture you
in your throes

while i savagely slice cylindrical roots and beryl bracts
while i invest into infinite depths of virile volume
while i anxiously attend ambling crimson ganache goulash
i picture you
in your throes

as your body bucks bolt upright and burgundy sheets sweat sopping
as your carmine candy coiffure gleans the streetlight through venetian veils
as the cool current cooks as right here above the torrid tankard
elixir, you
in your throes

when the froth flows fast over the rims of the boiling basin
when the crackling crumbs calcine blackened and are found floating
when my roiling recipe reduces to thick pungent paste
i picture you
in your throes

while the dipped dough divides and bakes up soft swollen
while the shell shapes show up on the surface buttery brown
while the aroma arouses ardent hunger deep in my cavernous core
i picture you
in your throes

as our toes tend toward heaven and our ears to god’s gob
as our necks and knees nestle inside these wet body blankets
as you twisting turn toward me writhe i forever fixate
elixir, you
’til the close
