Travails of an over-reactionary

I made as much noise as I could
alternating between intelligent conversation
ear-bursting screams and howls
and high-pitched whining
in the hopes of shutting out thoughts
of destroying the house we were all standing in
and so murdering everyone who had
touched my unfinished birthday cupcakes

this woman named Margueritte has been my mother, housekeeper and personal chef for 42 years so you would think she’d realise that crushing my ego has repercussions such as me suspending all tea-towel folding for a week, not a small consequence

those of us not stupefied by medication or illicit drugs are capable of making decisions –
I decided to straighten my hair by sleeping with my scooter helmet on;
my mother decided to film me asleep and post it on YouTube;
I decided to spray-paint her garden of beloved yellow roses black;
other decisions were made and acted on which produced much twittering/head-
shaking from the impatient policeman

 

Keith Nunes (New Zealand) lives beside Lake Rotoma where the two of them undertake a great deal of reflecting. He’s had works published around the globe, has placed in competitions and is a Pushcart Prize nominee. His book of poetry/short fiction, catching a ride on a paradox, is sold by the lunatic fringe.

Ira Joel Haber was born and lives in Brooklyn. He is a sculptor, painter, writer, book dealer,photographer and teacher. His work has been seen in numerous group shows bothin the USA and Europe and he has had 9 one man shows including several retrospectives of his sculpture. His work is in the collections of The Whitney Museum Of American Art, New York University, The Guggenheim Museum, The Hirshhorn Museum,The Albright-Knox Art Gallery & The Allen Memorial Art Museum. Since 2006 His paintings, drawings, photographs and collages have been published in over 230 on line and print magazines. He has received three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, two Pollock-Krasner grants, the Adolph Gottlieb Foundation grant and, in 2010, he received a grant from Artists’ Fellowship Inc.
