River of the Sun

Her horse drinks
from the river of the sun
and against the winds of time
she will run
a backdrop of innocence
till nights curtain falls
the desert high and lonesome
a raven on a limb
on a whim she calls

I lie as still as the rain
that falls
underneath the stars
under a blanket of tomorrow
that calls
I’ve come to know my dreams
have promised to only take me
so far

I’ve told her that words
will pass before your eyes
like a wink from a blind man
you buy him a drink
in a glass made of wishes
and you fill it
with blue sky

Her voice is hoarse
from calling to no one
for so long
her soul drinks
from the river of the sun
her heart
sings along with the wind
sings the Earths
beautiful song

Her horse drinks
from the river of the sun
and against the winds of time
she will run
she marks her trail with lost love
I know
I’ve always known
Dreams fall from above
I know
I’ve always known
I’m not
her only one
