People

I want to write a poem about the people.

The people who matter to me know who they are.
Apart from the ones who think they matter to me. They haven’t got a clue.

I want to write a poem about the people who love unconditionally, dancing for themselves, but to music that’s for everyone.

I want to write about the people who twist and stab and hurt others.

And don’t forget the people who cheat and the people who see the good in everyone.

The people who do not care and the people who do.

And the people who love unconditionally and the people who
only love when they’re in the mood to love.

I want to write a poem about the people who work, watch television shows, listen to music, grow old, eat, sleep, love and despise. I want to write a poem about the people who believe
that hate is too close to love.

The people who make history and the people who spend their time deleting it.

The people who long for a better life and the
people who are happy with their lot.

I want to write a poem about
the people
who see something different to everyone else. The people
who look at the world and see
a playground.
The people who have
one-way conversations.
The people who still dance more than we do.
