The woman stares into the mirror
at the child
with hands clasped over her heart,
crying in whispers.
“It hurts,
Oh it hurts me so.
Will it ever stop?

The woman tries to cradle
the child in her arms
to comfort and console.
‘The hurt will stop soon’, she says calmly.
But, by this time the child has disappeared;
There is only the woman
clasping her hands
Over her own heart.
Bamboozled No More!
