Racial tensions,
economic fears,
personal tragedies,
politics and war,
shootings,
pandemic.

The world
is consumed
by so much
at one time.

I wonder why
we have not
heard from
the leaders
of this universe?

Instead
it’s race,
gender, war,
hunger and
of course, money–
the stuff that
makes the planet spin.

Some folks
more concerned
with profit/loss margins
on a global scale.

But still life
goes on as usual
at a whirlwind pace
while many still
live out lives
as though
nothing ever
happened.

‘Cause it’s always
about the cash.
