The Underground Garden: Sunkissed

Do you mind if I have a crush on you?
Nothing serious.
I won’t be sending you poems, throughout the day messages.
Definitely not calling you.

I won’t be asking to see you or ask what you’re into.
I won’t be looking forward to your arrival or excitedly preparing for my own.
It’s just a crush.

Like a slow trickle, not a crashing wave.
Just permission to think about you when the light starts to fade.

You have my attention
But

I’m not about to share it again
I need it completely at the moment
Which is why I’m asking

Do you mind if I have a crush on you?

Are you okay with being the Sun?
Okay without a pedestal but above all and any one

Are you okay with knowing there’s a one-woman cheering squad you can’t
hear growing louder and louder every time your distance is near
Closer to me.

Do you mind if I have a small crush on you?
Just a sip. I’m not dehydrated but sometimes I like the taste on my lips.
Your stature like a peacock’s bloom
Mystical, mysterious strength of gentle face

I know you notice when I can’t look away
Or notice when I look away
Or notice when I

Just stare.

I have to ask, do you mind if I have a crush on you?
Since it’s becoming obvious
You’re Safe.

Nowhere near my lane
I’m nowhere near your road

How sweet it would be if you would be okay with me invoking your name
I promise it’s not over candle flame, off pencil lead, on brown paper bags

I only perceive off as Mad

Invoking your name like

AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

GOD MADE THAT.

How could crushing go bad when it’s something I wasn’t trying to grasp.
Just an appreciative clap when we give up the dap.

It’s always nice to see you.

It’s best I not ask
It may change the act
And I’m still taking in your opening credits

Do you mind if I have a crush on you?

It’s my mind that has a rush for you.

God for that one I again say Thank You.

Send in the truth.
