It’s All One Thing #197: The Horns of Our Dilemma

If there’s anything worse than the stunned-amentalist
Religious Right right now it’s the secular left.

The former, of course is so busy fighting a 19th century science
which doesn’t even exist anymore that they can do nothing but betray
the very real needs of their own constituency to their inane, insane
rearview mirror reflection agenda …

while the secular left has left us all behind with their post-modern descent
into a monolithic point of view which cringes a burnt life form
in the telescopic microscope of their objective intensity
whenever any one of us attempt to mention
the sublime much less divine.

 

James Van Looy has been a fixture in Boston’s poetry venues since the 1970s. He is a member of Cosmic Spelunker Theater and has run poetry workshops for Boston area homeless people at Pine Street Inn and St. Francis House since 1992.
