Poem by Sugar Tobey

Inside a dark bar

You know it’s always the same time in here
about three o: clock in the morning
you think so says the bar tender

then he tells me its monday
just in case I don’t know
yeah but what’s monday I ask him

monday is monday isn’t it he says
its also tuesday wednesday thursday whatever
it’s just a name people made up I say

he goes down the bar pouring drinks
collecting empty glasses
thinking it over he comes back

pouring me another drink he says
yeah I see what you’re saying
I don’t usually work on mondays
