Poem by Denny Kolakowski

The Next Life Might Be Kinder

we’re not easy to love
but if you know a good reason
not to forgive
clue me in
because every time I imagine
the next life
might be kinder
everyone I’ve ever known
stares back at me
from the mirror
laughing
in reverse.
