The Underground Garden: Love City Boston Edition

Love City

Bradford James is a quiet assassin. He’s been producing murderous tracks and holding killer events in the underground House scenes of Providence, Boston and now New York for over 20 years. Two decades of love!

As owner and operator of SEED Recordings, Bradford James shares with the world his original productions and collaborations, including remixes. He has also had the honors of releasing his sounds through “labels I have collected and respected for years such as Shelter Records, Yoruba and Future Vision to name a few.”

As a DJ, he currently gives the dancers what they want at LOVECITY NYC, a party birthed in New York City in 2013 with then-girlfriend, now-wife, Maureen Taylor. “I had been working with Eman for a few years and wanted to do something on my own outside of the Run Brooklyn & Uplifted events. So I was word playing and my homie DJ True of the Alma Party fame said ‘Yo how about Love City?’ Instantly the connection between the music and the idea I was going for to create a party with my partner made perfect sense. We asked our mutual friend Frankie Feliciano if he was down to play the first event with San Fran’s David Harness and myself. It was great party that afterwards Frankie was like “Yo! I want to do this all the time you guys!” So we continued the event at other locations because that’s what happens when you throw parties and have hosted the talents of Carlos Mena, Jihad Muhammad and Master Kev and Brian Burnside. We now reside in one of New York’s fastest growing underground spots called Club Remix, home of Jellybean Benitez’ Feel the Spirit Party, Ruben Toro’s Temple Party, Brooklyn Elements, Lou Gorbeas’ Crossroads, and Robbi’s Two Cities Party.”

“As a creator I have gotten deep within myself and channeled energy that I never knew existed. Music is another language, like any other language you must be able to speak the words before you can write the sentence and so on. I am always learning the language! As a party creator I just want to spread the music and vibe I love along with my tastemaking abilities to give the patron something they may have never heard or experienced before. As a patron myself, that’s what I long for!! New experiences!”
