Seven Times #69: Boots on the Ground


 

On New Year’s Day,
A Mother gave birth to her first pair of boots.
She was tiny and hand-knit by Grandma.

In early September,
A pair of boots got on the bus for his first day of school.
He was brown with pictures of trucks on the side.

Last Summer,
A pair of boots went on her first date.
She was high-heeled and hard to walk in.

In May,
A pair of boots graduated from college.
He was red leather with golden stitches.

Yesterday,
A pair of boots was married in the rose garden.
She was white with a floral design etched in silver.

Tomorrow,
We’re going to a funeral for a pair of boots.
He is black and shines,
I can see my reflection in him.
