It’s All One Thing #102: Oh, Robin

Banner design © TJ Edson

Oh, Robin
so stalwart in profile
so brazen encountered face to face
just the sight of you bobbing over the grasses
or fleeing to a flowered bough
transports me to a rainstorm
in Michigan far away where a small boy
wattles through puddles in the rain
and watches
black coated birds
with red vests
catch squirming worms
from the bottom of the deluge.
Oh, how they snatch up liquid bodies
from concentric circles
of rain splattered surface
of my little pond
only then to turn out to be
the symbol of both State and Spring.
